Diaries of a Bargainista {Chapter 1}

The title of this post explains it all. These are going to be my diaries of all the great bargains that I find.

I decided to go to the mall on Saturday, wait - THE MALL? This is not a place that I frequent that often, but I wanted to check out the Nordstrom Anniversay Sale.  After cruising through Nordstrom and realizing I didn't want to pay $199 for something on sale from $500, I wandered out into the mall. You see, I don't really like to pay more than $20 for one single item {shoes are the exception, I don't have a choice}.

As I was aimlessly meandering my way through the mall crowds I spotted a sale at Ann Taylor Loft.  This also is not a place that I shop at that often, but the sale signs lured me in. If you consider yourself a Bargainista, then you skip over all of the full price clothes in the front of the store and go straight to the Sale Rack.  Don't even bother looking at the Full Price clothes, they'll all be on sale next week.

Immediately I spotted colored denim crops which I've been wanting for a LONG TIME {I know, I'm really behind on this trend}... Found some in my size along with several other items, see below:

Yellow = Money Spent
Red = Money Saved

My goal when shopping for bargains is to Save more than I spent, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! You will notice I bought 2 black tank tops, I decided since they were so cheap I would get two new ones, I practically wear one everyday!

TIP #1 to becoming a Bargainista:  pair new items with items you already have in your closet

 New Shorts - Ann Taylor Loft $14.99 // Blue and White Striped Shirt - Ross $7.99 // White Blazer - Marshalls $19.99  = Total Outfit cost {minus shoes, they are old from DSW} $42.97

More to come on how I styled the rest of these bargain pieces.

What do you think of this bargain outfit?

PS - who is excited for the Bachelorette Season Finale Tonight? I'll be writing my review tomorrow :)

  2. I love bargain shopping like that! I get a little rush from seeing how much money I saved. I have friends who refuse to shop sales. I never understood why. We will be wearing the same par of jeans, but I got them half off. Sounds good to me! I love those shorts you got. So cute!

  3. I used to work at The Loft - everything goes on sale so never buy anything full price {unless you really really love it and don't want to risk it being gone}! Good finds!

  8. That's a great haul!! I am totally the same way when it comes to shopping...i go all the way to the back of the store and go from clearance/final price items, to sale, to full priced as a last resort. Loft is great - I can't WAIT to use my teacher discount there (at least my student one works now).

  10. I love Loft. I learned really quickly to never buy anything full price there because everything will go on sale at some point.
    I love that striped skirt but it didn't fit me right. Can't wait to see what you do to it!

  11. I love, love, love bargains! I always get stuff on sale/clearance, and with the exception of a few things (jeans and purses), I never pay over $20 either...including shoes! ;) (and honestly on most things I never pay over $15...it has to be really, really, really cute and closet worthy for me to pay $20!! :) I think bargain shopping is like treasure hunting..it just makes it way more fun-especially when people compliment something and you reply with how much (i.e. little) it cost :)
